What happens when an appreciation for Volkswagen Beetles and a past it's prime '72 Rag Top meet head on.

Whilst studying in cornwall, I came across this Beetle, '72 with a non-factory fitted rag top, reconditioned engine but needs some work.

At the time it wasn't for sale but when funds were suddenly needed for a trip the Wagon was liberated without too much consideration - Mistake No.1

It may look nice but lurking under this shell is a can of worms that should never have been opened - so I stowed it in a garage for 3 months.

Summer comes, with some friends - lets go and get it!
With a dolly trailer on loan.
And an MG Maestro EFi (not mine) with no starter motor - Mistake No.2
Never stall a car with no starter motor uphill on the very busy A303, other motorists don't take too kindly.
If you do, unhook trailer, push car uphill leaving trailer in road, and bump car in reverse taking care not to hit trailer! - and take photo!!!
The work begins!!
Big holes in floor
Cutting out existing heater channels and entire floorpan.
Ongoing work!
and on!
and on!
new floor!

While Surfing Perranporth, notice time of year, empty car park!
Lunch at Bolingey, a regular stop for the last 15 years
Temporary home in Falmouth, notice the increasing grey marks after treatment, sea air?
the body started dying!!
Doors wont close! roof broke!
Terminal Rust!
The car was eventually sold for the floorpan and spares. Would I do it again?
If I did it would be - Mistake No.3
